The workshop!

Phew finally! I feel like I have started working on this post 100 times to only be distracted by something else, had something else come up that pushed it aside, or a toddler who didn’t nap quite as long as hoped!

April 21 I hosted my very first photographers workshop! I was so nervous/excited/overwhelmed/giggly! The photographers who registered blew me away, and I was so excited to meet and see some of them again!

The workshop was held at the AMAZING Sandman Hotel in Abbotsford. They BLEW ME AWAY! The room was GORGEOUS, (and I was too flustered in the morning to remember to take a proper picture, so instagram will have to do!), the staff was amazing, and the food was so yummy!!

For the morning section of the workshop I got to talk! A LOT! I was so nervous, but once I got going it got easier! Having 17 faces staring at you is a little intimidating!!! I started with the the story of how I started in the business, and what my first two years looked like, and went on from there! We covered equipment, social media, marketing, client interaction, websites and blogs, networking, pricing, shooting and LOTS and LOTS of branding!! They had the most amazing questions and I loved getting to know them!

After lunch we headed to a local park where my incredible sister Chantale, had worked so so hard to put together a styled shoot as a portfolio builder for us! The entire idea behind it was based on my business colours! I knew with planning the workshop I wouldn’t have much time to put into the shoot, so I left it up to my sister and she did an amazing job! Thanks so much for all your help! Couldn’t have done it without you!

Our amazing (have I said amazing too much yet!?! Sorry!!!) models Matt and Sylvia looked incredible! Olivia Grosso worked hard to get Sylvia’s hair just right, and Heather of HD Beauty did an amazing job on her makeup!!!

A HUGE thank you to all our vendors who helped put the styled shoot together!

Jessica of Trove Vintage Rentals, you once again were amazing to work with, the couch and the side table looked fantastic!!

Classic Party Rentals for the table, place settings, and cutlery!

Champagne Dreams for the linens and table decor…it was STUNNING!

Adrienne Ritchie for the incredible flowers! You always blow me away with your work!! :) (adrienne.ritchie@eighteenacres.com)

After the styled shoot we headed back to the Sandman to go over my workflow, from culling and editing, to blogging and getting clients the images!

I had an amazing day, and my only two regrets are I wasn’t able to get to know these 17 people better! They were an amaaazing group and I so wish I could have spent more time getting to know them!! :) My other regret is for some reason I didn’t get a group picture of us all!! Marco was even there during the shoot! On the drive back home I was so so upset! Oh well just an excuse for all 18 of us to get together again!!

Once last HUGE thank you to the sponsors of the workshop!!! Showit, PASS, Promise Tangeman of Sitehouse Designs, Photography Concentrate, and Photobook Canada!
