Many of you have heard me talk of Rob and Deanna! They are our old landlords in Abbotsford. We lived in their basement suite for just over 2 years! They are one of the best families I know, and we often call them our second family.
The night we moved in Deanna bought us pizza! From there we became great friends! The door between our places was always unlocked, and I was always going up to visit, and Deanna and her two kids were always popping their heads in to say hi! We were always texting back and forth to borrow an onion, sugar, taco seasoning….you name it! We had “family” movie nights in their TV room, and when Luca was born Deanna was down everyday to say hi, offer help, and cuddle Luca! I received numerous nicknames from the Dixon’s over those two years…most of them from Rob. My favourite being “Summer Loving” as with my teaching jobs I always had the summer off :)
Last year, Deanna applied to the Abbotsford Police Department. We were all so excited when she got hired!! So for the past 10 months she has been training, learning, and getting ready for yesterday! She asked me if I would come along to her grad to be her “personal photographer” for the day! ummmm….of course!! I was so excited and so proud to see her all dressed up in her uniform!
The graduation was amazing! I got a bit teary eyed when Rob (who is an RCMP officer) was the one to hand Deanna her badge, and even more choked up when Deanna surprised her family and Rob by being the Valedictorian for her class. Her speech was amazing! Very inspirational….many of her friends and family shed a tear or two! It was awesome to see how proud Rob was of his wife :)
Tonight is her big Grad party, and Marco and I can’t wait to go to celebrate with them!
Here are a few of my favourites from the ceremony yesterday….
Congrats again Deanna!!! Can’t wait to celebrate with you tonight! :)
Great photos! How exciting to be apart of this event. Justine, I have been following your blog for awhile, I’ve loved to watch you grow as a photographer, I saw the blog post where you were asking anyone out there who was interested in photography to go for coffee (I thought..should I email her and go…but I didn’t…why, not sure…maybe now I still should) Now today looking at this blog post, I’m wondering if I know your friend Deanna. She looks like a lady that lives just down the street from me here in Abbotsford. If they are living in the same house still today, and you lived in their suite, and they live in east Abbotsford on the Mission side of the mountain…I bet I know her. Small world. May you have a very Happy Mother’s Day!
Hi Julie! You definitly should email for coffee!! :) That would be wonderful! We are living in Kelowna now, but are down so much for photography that there is always time for a coffee!
So we aren’t living with Deanna anymore, but that’s exactly where she lives, so that’s probably her! Such a small world!
