Last July, one of my best friends and amazingly talented fellow photographer Jackie invited me along for an epic road trip/second shooting for her! She had a wedding in Canmore, Alberta and one in Many Glacier National Park! I will take up any excuse to go to Banff and with Jackie not having been before I was dying to show her around! And I have heard Jackie talk about Many Glacier for YEARS and jumped at the chance to see it!

We met in Merritt and headed out! We very quickly learned that although we both like the same genres of music, we have TOTALLY different taste in songs. Every song that’s her favourite, is on my least favourite list, and every song I can’t live without, she can easily never listen to again. haha. So we compromised, which meant she got to pick most of the songs cause she was driving and I got to rest my feet on the dash ;) As it got dark, we found a mutual love of Disney songs however, and our friendship was cemented once again!

Our first day in Alberta we explored Banff and ohmygosh it was amazing. The weather was insane, going back and forth from pouring to sunny and we were the only car headed up to Moraine Lake in the pouring rain, as we chattered away about not caring if it was raining cause we were in the Rockies!!! Just as we pulled in though, the rain let up, the clouds parted and we got a GORGEOUS sunset. It was on par for the trip!

Heading back into Calgary after Moraine, we saw the STRANGEST lights ever. At first it looked like it was low clouds being lit up by the highway billboards, until we saw the lights where there was no billboards and the “clouds” were dancing. We pulled over so beyond excited and realized they were the NORTHERN LIGHTS. As cars and trucks zoomed past we madly played around with settings and photographed the lights. It’s been on my bucket list for years to see them and I couldn’t stop grinning!

 

The next morning we headed into Canmore for Luke and Tara’s wedding and it was AMAZING! I LOVE working with Jackie. She’s incredibly talented and she has SO much fun with her couples! She’s loud and funny and just plain awesome! Check out her photos from the day HERE, cause again, they’re awesome!

OH MY STARS their details had me photographing nonstop for about an hour. It was STUNNING. The gold sparkles and the flowers <3!
