Heather and Dirk: Lynden Wedding 06.12.2011

Heather and Dirk had such a fun, gorgeous, happy wedding day! I wasn’t sure how to start this post except by saying I had so much fun being a part of their day. The details, the weather, the location, the colours, the people….it was all amazing to be a part of.

I don’t know what Heather’s overall vision of her wedding day was but I got colourful bouquets, hot pink flipflips, laughter, country music, line dancing, raspberry lemonade, wild flowers, pink tractor, hay rides, local wine, Mount Baker, rustic rock fireplace, candles, oranges, ice cream brownie sundae, jellie bellies.

I have known Heather since Grade 10. We graduated from W.J.Mouat together in Abbotsford and through facebook stayed in touch. I was so excited when she asked me to shoot her wedding. At their engagement session I saw how well paired her and Dirk were and got even more excited for her wedding!

Heather and Dirk are so amazing to see together. Heather is not a fan of PDA, but Dirk definitly is! Everytime he would go in for a neck kiss, Heather would laugh! That great giggle, scrunched nose, contagious laugh. The way these two look at each other is so inspiring. It brings you back to when you first met the one. That excitement, that wanting to spend every minute with them, the butterflies, the newness of the kisses. It reminds me of how great love is.

I met Heather at the hair salon where she was getting her hair done and doing her own makeup! Heather is an amazing makeup artist  and did her own makeup and all the bridesmaids and her Mom! She is amazing! :) From there we headed down to the Dutch Village Inn in Lynden.

Heather watched out the window to peek at the guys as they arrived! Marco (one of my amazing 2nd shooter for the day) was down below to greet them and help set up the First Look  for us!

Dirk didn’t seem nervous at all as he waited for Heather to tap him on the shoulder….

ah…and this is why I LOVE first looks

Dirk has the ability to make Heather just light up with the biggest smiles! She was full of laughter all day, it was so contagious!

This one is my favourite from the day! So much love.

Heather and Dirk had the most amazing wedding party! So helpful, so loving, and so funny!

We headed into the back alley behind the hotel for a few of these shots. The lighting was gorgeous!

hee hee see? Dirk gets her laughing!

From their we headed over to Bertheson Park in Lynden for some more photos!

Such a gorgeous group of ladies! It was so great to meet you all (and see you again Heather and Danielle!)

This group of guys was hilarious! They were constantly cracking jokes, laughing and having fun.

Heather you are stunning!

Not only were Heather’s flowers gorgeous, but I am so in love with her amazing ring!

Someone stopped by :)

Heather had been telling me since she first booked her wedding that they were getting this pink tractor. Quite a few people have seen it parked outside of the John Deere store in Lynden on the way to Bellingham, but I had never seen it before! I was so excited when her brother-in-law drove it over!! It is amazing :) With Heather’s favourite colour being pink, it definitly made her day to have it there!

Heather came prepared for possible June rain! Fortunatly the weather was gorgeous, but we still put the umbrellas to good use!

Aren’t these two just adorable?! I LOVE their dresses!

After the park, we headed over to the ceremony/reception site. Mount Baker Rotary Club. The ceremony was outside on the lawn behind the club. When I heard that the reception was already set up I ducked in to get some detail shots before the ceremony started!

A girl after my own heart….Jellie Bellies for wedding favours! I was tempted to pocket some of the extras!

Heather’s Dad made the amazing D on the mantle!

The yellow paper with markers was for every table to write why their table should eat next. Mine “Because we have the photographer at our table and she needs to eat soon so she can keep taking pictures”

The gorgeous gorgeous GORGEOUS ceremony site!

I always love to get the photo of the couple when they get down the aisle and out of view of the guests! It’s always that special , “I can’t believe we’re married!” moment!

After the ceremony, everyone hopped onto the tractor for a hayride around the block! They got lots of cars honking in congrats!

Their reception was a blast! The food was catered by The Fairway Cafe in Lynden, and WOW it was amazing! Their reception was so full of love. The slideshow brought laughter and tears. The speeches the same. Both speaking glowing words of both Heather and Dirk. So many memories, funny stories, touching moments. It was so great to witness the love for Heather and Dirk :)

Mmmmm dessert :)

I so love this photo of their first dance.

Congrats Heather and Dirk! I had such a great time being a part of your special day.  I wish you all the love, blessings, and fortune in the future. Your love for each other is so obvious and so contagious.

Thank you so much for giving me the great honor of being your photographer. It meant the world to me! :)
