Point No Point Resort Wedding, Sooke BC: David and Chelsea

David and Chelsea got married at the beautiful Point No Point Resort just outside of Sooke BC two weekends ago. It was absolutely stunning. It’s fairly common knowledge I will take mountains over beaches every single time, but the Juan de Fuca Strait had me second guessing that! The mountainous background and steep forest covered cliffs that dropped off to the crashing waves below was just too amazing to not consider choosing beaches every once and awhile ;) And the fact we saw killer whales definitely DEFINITELY helped!

I hadn’t met David or Chelsea before their big day, so I was excited and curious to spend a few hours with them!! In our emails back and forth Chelsea kept telling me how excited she was to show me one of their most favourite places!! She even laid out her timeline to make sure we had as much time as possible to just explore! As soon as I met Chelsea it felt like I’d met her already! She is so warm and welcoming and she quickly felt like a close friend!! Chelsea’s family had travelled from Wisconsin and Seattle to be at the wedding and were just as excited as I was for the scenery! David’s family had grown up on the island and they’d found they’d stumbled upon the resort after spending some time looking at other similiar resorts. They fell in love with Point No Point for it’s massive private grounds.

Everything about their day was intimate and private. Their ceremony was overlooking one of the resorts 4 private beaches, surrounded by only their 18 closest friends and family. It was simple and so beautiful. After their champagne toast and some of the best lemon cake I’ve ever had, David and Chelsea spent a good two hours with me just exploring. We walked all over the property, often taking trails we had no idea where they went just to see what was around the next corner. Some led to huge cliffs, and others wound down to yet another private beach. We took it slow and I stepped back so much to let them just have time to breathe, time to celebrate being husband and wife. Time so many couples don’t get because of the busy-ness of their day. We ended off their photos on a bench overlooking the ocean and the three of us just sat. Sat and chatted and mostly just took it all in.

David and Chelsea THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for bringing me to the island for your wedding. I loved every single minute of being there and loved getting to know you both!!

Another thank you to two of my best friends, Jessica and Megan for making the trip with me, and keeping me company in my AirBnB cottage for the weekend!! It wouldn’t have been the same without you both!! (Check out instagram to see the cottage, it’s ADORABLE!)

KILLER WHALES! We could see them breaching and it made me wish I had a zoomier lens!
