Oh Christmas Tree…

This afternoon we headed to Woodhaven Christmas Tree Farm in Kelowna to cut down our Christmas tree!

This is our first real tree in two years! The last two years we were always out of town for Christmas and didn’t want to invest in a real tree and not be able to enjoy it! This year we are in Kelowna for Christmas so we headed to the farm for a tree!

You could say I am rather particular about my tree. I get that from my Mom! Every night after we would go to bed, she would “fix” the Christmas tree decorations….some were too close together, some weren’t hung properly! I have inherited this trait.

The last time we got a Christmas tree was the first Christmas Marco and I were married. Marco had to work, so I headed to the tree farm with my parents. I found the msot gorgeous Noble Fir there. It was amazing! It was also the MOST EXPENSIVE TREE BY FAR! But I bought it anyways and it has since been a joke between us.

So today, on the way, Marco told me I wasn’t allowed to get the most expensive tree there. I had to bring it down a bit.

Luca LOVED it there! He ran amongst the trees for a good hour! He played hide and go seek, hugged some of the “Luca trees” as he called the tiny ones, and just ran like crazy! We found our tree, tagged it, and headed back to get him to cut it down! After he had cut it down, and was shaking all of the loose needles off, he started to tell us about the tree. I can’t for the life of me remember the name, but it’s a fir, a rare fir. RARE + EXPENSIVE! I see Marco giving me the evil eye already. He said there is only one place that makes theses seedlings for the tree, and he gets all of them from there, he then continues to say that the tree we chose is the “Cadillac” of Christmas trees. I burst out laughing. I couldn’t help it! Lucky for us, this farm charges one flat price regardless of which tree you choose! So we loaded our tree into the truck, and headed home!

I can’t wait to put up our tree in a few days! I will post pictures of it when it’s all decorated! Meanwhile, here’s some of our Christmas Tree Shopping!
